Counseling Services
Counseling is provided to the older adult (60 and over) with specialized services marked with a history of: Professional excellence, a knowledgeable staff, effective programming, confidential relationships and a nondenominational service.
Purpose
Counseling should respond to the unique strengths and weaknesses of each family and individual. It promotes growth, insight and autonomy within the constraints of the person’s needs and abilities.
Professional Counseling can help individuals to change ideas, behaviors and/or relationships that are painful or destructive and help promote a positive mental, spiritual, physical and emotional well-being.
Fees
There is no fee for service, however insurance is billed and all donations are welcome. All donations received are used to supplement programs and services.
The Program
The older adult counseling staff work with each person and/or family member to design an effective individualized counseling plan to achieve the desired changes.
Typical Problems May Include:
- Retirement adjustment.
- Emotional stress due to coping with chronic illness of self or others.
- Family problems with adult children or elderly parents.
- Being at-risk of institutionalization due to the inability to manage activities of daily living.
- Abuse or neglect by significant others.
- Changes in life-style as a result of reduced income, health, marital status change or inability to function
- Depression due to loneliness, isolation or other problems.
- Abusive dependency on medication and/or alcohol.
